The eyes are the most talked about and often praised part of a human face. Though eyes have the function of a visual receptor they are not meant only to see things around us. They play an important role in our beauty. No wonder poets all over the world have written dedicated poetries on eyes, philosophers have talked about eyes giving a glimpse of our soul, and advertisers in the fashion industry gravitate towards making the eyes of the models a center of attraction.

When we see so much importance being given to the beauty of the eyes, it is natural for us to want our eyes to be beautiful. We understand if you feel concerned about your hooded eyes. The most beautiful eyes can look dull if eyelids droop like a hood over them. But, this is something for which we don’t want you to go under knives. So, here we are with some natural techniques to reduce hooded eyes.

    Enhance Your Hydration

One of the important factors causing saggy eyelids or hooded eyes is lack of hydration. Adequate fluid intake will hydrate your body optimally and naturally reduce hooded eyelids. Water is undoubtedly the best liquid to keep your body hydrated but you can also include some herbal teas and freshly squeezed juice for upping your hydration level.

Put Cucumber Slices on Your Eyelids

Cucumber slices have been used in the beauty industry for like ages. They are a good way to give some direct hydration to your saggy eyelids. But, it’s not only about hydration. Cucumber is a good source of potassium and vitamin C both of which are good for skin health. So, slices of cucumber can revitalize the skin around your eyes making them seem less hooded. The coolness of cucumber slices is relaxing for the eyes so you can do this regularly at the end of your day.

    Potato Slices Are Good Too

Just like the cucumber slices, you can also put freshly cut white potato slices on your eyelids to treat your hooded eyelids. The enzymes and astringent found in potatoes are anti-inflammatory. They will be helpful in tightening the skin around your eyes and reducing puffiness. You can include this in your weekly self-care routine and can also try it on the days when you feel your eyelids are extra heavy or saggy.

    Use Chamomile Tea Bags

It is good if you regularly sip chamomile tea but those sweet-scented tea bags can be put to other users too. Soak a pair of chamomile tea bags and then place them in a refrigerator for around 20 minutes. When you take these tea bags out you have to close your eyes and put these tea bags on your eyes for 20 minutes and relax. Chamomile is packed with anti-inflammatory agents and can work wonders on hooded eyes. A green tea bag can be a great substitute too.

Give Your Hooded Eyelids Olive Oil Massage

Massage is one of the best natural ways of relaxing and rejuvenating the skin. For hooded eyes, you need a few drops of lukewarm olive oil that you would gently massage over your eyelids and the areas around your eyes. The best time to do this is at night so that you can leave the oil to be slowly absorbed into your skin. The next morning you will wash your face with cold water and feel the difference.

    Eat Grapes

It is perhaps one of the easiest hacks to naturally fight hooded eyes. You just need to eat a handful of grapes and you can see a slow but sure reduction in your hooded eyes. Grapes are rich in resveratrol, an agent that slows down the cellular aging process. With regular consumption of grapes, you can notice a decrease in the bags around your eyes. This will also naturally slow down the appearance of wrinkles on your body.

    Avoid Prolonged Sun Exposure

You must already know how damaging can prolonged sun exposure be to your skin. No wonders the sun can increase the hoods over your eyes and the bags under your eyes as well. So, it is always advisable to avoid prolonged sun exposure. Even when you have to be in the sun you can always use shades to keep your eyes and areas around them safe from damage.

    Never Skip Night Sleep

Last but not the least, have enough sleep every night. Research has drawn direct relation between less sleep and hooded eyes. Most adults need 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night. If you are sleeping adequately every night, you are less likely to have hooded eyes, dark circles, and puffy eyes.

    Final Thoughts

If your hooded eyes are not caused by any genetic or such underlying issues you can prevent them very well by adopting healthy lifestyle habits like drinking enough water, sleeping adequately, and including a healthy diet in your meal. Avoiding excess caffeine, salt and alcohol too can be helpful.
